OBIC Bioproducts Innovation Center: Ohio State University’s OBIC Bioproducts Innovation Center (OBIC) facilitates connections within different segments of the bioproducts community to nurture business ecosystems and accelerate commercialization of new sustainable bioproduct technologies. OBIC accomplishes this mission by integrating the expertise and innovations from its network of research institutes, companies and policy agencies to provide progressive solutions that fill gaps in the commercialization process not normally addressed by other organizations. Technical services range from discovery to stewardship to bioproducts research studies to development of a customized strategy, to acceleration of bioproducts commercialization.
Columbus State Community College (CSCC): Columbus State Community College provides a wide range of workforce development training services for central Ohio manufacturers. Education can result in a degree, certificate or company-recognized credential. The Integrated Systems Technology (IST) Lab offers individualized training, blending self-paced online learning and hands-on training with industry-standard equipment. The training is rigorous enough to meet industry needs and offers individualized plans that can accommodate a single worker or a company’s entire team. Classroom and lab time is structured to accommodate both student and employer work schedule. The new Modern Manufacturing Work Study program allows students to “Earn and Learn”. Obtaining an a degree in electro-mechanical engineering technology while working part time to both practice leaned skills on the job and off-set the cost of tuition.
Career & Technology Education Center (C-TEC): The Career & Technology Educations Centers (C-TEC) has been serving the needs of citizens, businesses and industry since 1974. It is the premier choice for career and technical education, adult education and workforce development in Licking County. Adult Education programming has nearly 35 educational and training opportunities available. C-TEC Adult Education comprises 100,000 square feet of space consisting of 10 lab areas and 18 classrooms. It has an excellent relationship with the Licking County manufacturing community, providing both standard and customized curriculum and training programs. The C-TEC EDGE program is a leader in preparing students with entry-level skills for rewarding manufacturing careers.
Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center: Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center delivers unique and progressive academic and career educational opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their goals in Pickaway and Ross Counties and surrounding areas. The Pickaway-Ross Business and Industry Team within the Adult Education program provides fully-customizable, short-term training and consulting to meet local companies’ specific needs in the areas of industrial, computer and leadership skills. The Business and Industry team meets regularly with local manufacturing businesses to assess training needs and develops case-specific curriculum and materials for instruction. Training is delivered at a place and time convenient to the company and their employees. The Business and Industry team provides training classes in a wide array of Industrial/Maintenance topics. The Pickaway-Ross team also provides assistance in personnel assessment and hiring. New classes are always being developed to respond to employers’ needs.
We also partner with other affiliates in the Ohio MEP network—including TechSolve, MAGNET, CIFT, APEG and FastLane—as well as with local and regional economic development organizations such as Columbus 2020.
Through our partnership with the Manufacturing Institute’s Dream It Do It program we offer a unique set of resources to address the current skills gap in manufacturing. Ohio Dream It Do It introduces the world of today’s advanced manufacturing and provides resources to engage manufacturers, educators, students, and parents. The information is useful to inspiring and building a talent pipeline of young people who understand what manufacturing is and what education and skills are needed to prepare for a career in manufacturing.
