Speaker: ALLISON DESANTIS is the Director of Business Services for the Ohio Secretary of State, Jon Husted’s Office. Her role as Director of Business Services began in 2010, where her primary role is to oversee the operations of the division which is responsible for processing business and UCC filings, notary commissions, and ministering licenses and various records submitted to the office. Allison was also recently named President of IACA – the International Association of Commercial Administrators.

Speaker: TIM MCDERMOTT is the BWC Business Consultant for the Southern Region of Ohio. Tim also has 15 years’ experience as a small business owner-operator. Tim has a BA in Labor Studies and Education and is currently working on his Masters in Public Administration (MPA). He is certified in risk management, public management, and project management. Tim has been on the Business Technology Faculty at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College for 10 years and a guest instructor at several colleges and universities.


Part 3: Ohio Environmental Protection Agency

September 25, 2:00 p.m.—3:00 p.m.

Learning Objective: Dan Sowry will discuss the challenges faced by small businesses subject to environmental laws and how the Ohio EPA assists small businesses by offering free and confidential compliance assistance to help them understand and comply with these regulations.

Speaker: DAN SOWRY has a BS in Environmental Biology and over 18 years’ experience at the Ohio EPA. He currently serves as the Assist. Chief of Ohio EPA’s Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention (OCAPP) within the Division of Environmental and Financial Assistance. Dan oversees Ohio EPA’s sustainability program, Recycling and Litter Prevention Grant program, pollution prevention program, compliance assistance program, outreach and customer support program, Ohio Materials Marketplace program, and Encouraging Environmental Excellence program.
